Dutch politics remain in flux, especially in the margins.
It seems Baudet has won the power struggle within the FvD; or rather, his opponents have given up and left the party. Still, the party is down 5 seats (from 8 to 3) in the single poll that was run wholly after the debacle.
The latest from the meltdown of Forum voor Democratie, which is Dutch for “the gift that keeps on giving.”
Yesterday Thierry Baudet resigned as FvD party leader. What’s going on, why did he resign, and what will happen now?
There will be general elections next March, and the dozen-plus-a-few Dutch parties are preparing for them. It’s time for another series of party profiles. We’ll go in order from small to large according to the August 2020 polls.
Today we’ll continue with alt-right-ish FvD, which is becoming Wilders’s most serious electoral competitor. This will be the longest 2020 profile because FvD is the most important new party vying in the upcoming elections.
Today, news broke that was so unexpected that I had to write about it: split-offs from populist FvD, angry-pensionado 50Plus, and animal-rights PvdD consolideated into a new small party. (Source)
Geert Wilders’s PVV is going to run in Rotterdam’s local elections, but messed up with selecting its local leader. The first item is bigger news than you might think. The second item isn’t — it’s typical of the total lack of vetting that characterises the PVV.

A wrap-up of this week. None of these points are terribly important, but they show that Dutch politics are returning to their stable, somewhat boring, default status after the highs of internationally-covered elections.
